Tyre handling workshops to be held first quarter of 2009
The HSE in conjunction with the NTDA and the BTMA are holding a number of workshops aimed at reducing manual handling injuries in the tyre industry - 9th December 2008
A series of workshops are to be run aimed at tyre
retailers, tyre recovery companies and any other
trades which deal with tyres aimed at reducing the
number of
manual
injuries at work that are picked up in the
industry.
Manual handling injuries, particularly
lifting injures at work
are responsible for a huge amount of lost man-hours
in the tyre industry each year, and the workshops
hope to help reduce this number, and more
importantly highlight the workers
health and safety
responsibilities.
The workshops are being run January through March
2009 by the Health
and Safety Executive (HSE) in conjunction with
the National Tyre
Distributors Association (NTDA) and
the British Tyre
Manufacturers Association (BTMA) and hope to
educate workers in the correct manual handling
procedures, and hopefully reduce many preventable
accidents
at work like
lifting
injuries. Places are available on a first come
first served basis costing £10 to attend.
The workshops will be held at the locations below on
