Gas explosion kills a man
A blast at business premises in Denham ends in tragedy after a man dies from his injuries - 21st June 2009
An investigation is under way after one man was
killed and another seriously
injured
at work in an explosion at business premises in
Denham, Buckinghamshire.
The explosion, which is believed to have been caused
by a nitrogen gas canister, happened early on Friday
evening.
The emergency services were called by people hearing
the explosion at around 17:40.
The two men suffering
injuries at work were rushed to a London
hospital where one of the men died, with the other
suffering serious hand and leg injuries.
In a statement issued by the
Thames
Valley Police a spokesperson said: "One man has
died from his injuries and the other remains in
hospital being treated for serious leg and hand
injuries. No one else was injured.
"Police have launched a joint investigation with
the Health and
Safety Executive into the circumstances of the
incident."
